I'm no expert in it but it is the same as jailbraking iOS products. They refer to it as rooting because Android works off of a linux base and "root" is the base level of everything in the system.

Once the phone is rooted you'll be able to remove the annoying preinstalled apps that you never use, install programs that aren't available in the traditional play store due to the nature of what they allow you to do, and basically you'll be able to control your phone the way you want to for the most part. All in all, it's like a god mode for your phone.

Remember, it does void your warranty if it is a new phone and there is always the chance you can brick it if something goes wrong, but there are normally ways to bring it back too if your careful.

Like I said, I'm no expert but there are tons of them out there that can give you a more technical rundown. For the phones I have rooted I used Kingoroot at https://www.kingoapp.com/. It's simple enough and works with most phones. The only phones I've had issue with so far have been my Galaxy S3's & S5's from T-Mobile I use on the farm.

Hope this helps. Happy Farming!

Why would one want to root their phone when it comes to farming? Would it make farming much easier if phones were rooted?

I'll leave that answer to a more experienced farmer. I only use it to clean the cache easier and dim the screen lower than normal. Pretty sure there are other apps though that are useful, yet questionable, like video speed manipulators and click industrialize. Most are detectable though from my undestanding.
