Question About A Smartphone, Is It Good Enough For Perk TV?

Katherine » Tue Sep 13, 2016 12:44 am

I am looking or a good smartphone to use for perk tv. Their specifications for running it is a resolution of 480x800, and I would like to have a dual core at least.

I found this phone that's around my budget of $20 (I need to buy 5), it is the Alcatel One Touch Pop Icon. I read up on the specs, and it meets the minimum for Perk Tv.

My question is does anybody know if it runs smoothly and is it good for Perk TV?

Thanks - Katherine.

Kat that phone would be good but have you heard of the LG sunrise as it's cheaper on amazon. $15 I think and it works with Perk too

I'm not sure about the resolution on it though ~

The resolution is 480 x 320 ppi. More info on it http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-L15G-sunrise . Other users in this forum says it's perfect for apptrailers and perk tv but from their view, a downside is that it doesn't support root

Ive got a couple of alcatel phones and they wont even launch any perk apps. it just gives me an error saying perk is only meant to run on a phone or a tablet. They do work decently for checkpoints video and swagbucks though

It only comes up with the error message because it shows that the alacatel phones aren't compatible

It's saying that because that specific phone doesn't meet the specifications to load it. You're able to install it from google play, but as for launching it you can't. The requirements for running Perk is as follows: 768MB –1GB of RAM, 4–8 GB of memory, and a 480 x 800 – 720 x 1280 pixel resolution screen.

Devices that do not meet these specifications can install and use Perk TV, however, you may run into some stability or performance issues.

The only success i have had getting these phones to run anything perk wise was to run the perk.tv and viggle.tv websites in the puffin browser, but even that doesnt seem to work anymore. It will no longer let me log in to my perk account in the puffin browser so i can watch videos but not gain points. Lately i have been using these phones to run the swagbucks apps and checkpoints.

Huh, I never thought to run them via browser :o

You don't get much with websites though

You are most likely going to get banned for that as Puffin is a weird type of browser that the pages run on virtual computers in their servers that have Flash on them and sends the screen down to your phone.

This violates Perk's ToS which doesn't allow this and most likely will result in your points being canceled and possibly your IP address being banned. Same reason why you can't use it with Opera Turbo.

Ive been using it for months without being banned. Ive never been flagged or anything. I cash out every $1 to my perk plastic card and have never had any issues.

You weren't but at some time you will be if they see that you're continuously doing it.
