Sometimes if you try to get an iPhone and it's not in good condition ask the seller if it's blacklisted or not as sellers don't mention it.

I only look at phones that show the specs of the phone, and if it's on a carrier, if it doesn't show the specs of the phone I would ask them to send a picture, if they don't I don't look at it.

But to be on the safe side ask for the IMEI and see if it's blacklisted.

No blacklisted is when you sell something that is lost/stolen and IMEI is a different thing.

Oh, I must have read something wrong off the internet hen.... I found this on how to check if it's blacklisted

How do you check if a phone has a bad ESN or is blacklisted? You can use the website: checkesnfree.com. This website will check Verizon ESNs, and IMEIs that are blacklisted. Sprint phones have had some issues on this website and you generally will have to call Sprint to check if the phone has a bad ESN. It is suggested that you do this prior to purchasing a phone to be on the safe side. If you do talk to a representative, make sure that they have checked if the phone has been lost or stolen, is activated, or is inactive on a delinquent account. Sometimes, the representative does not check all these items.

There are loads of sites to check IMEI to see specific things. But if the seller doesn't give you the IMEI then don't buy the phone.
