This is the access point I bought. The access point is working but now that it is on my network my regular router is dropping wifi and seems to be running slow. I have no idea why it is doing this. Please help.

Might have fixes it hopefully now I feel dumb. It is looking like it was too close to my router and that was the reason it was dropping wifi

I would make sure that your AP and your regular router's wifi use different channels. They might be stepping on each other.

I made sure they were on different channels. I moved the access point and it seems to have worked a little better. It was 15 feet to the left of the router. Now I have a wall between the router and access point. I had 3 laptops running earnhoney apps and turned 2 of them off I think that helped the most. I am not sure why that would effect it. I had all 3 laptops hooked up to the router with Ethernet. I thought the access point was going to help lighten the load but it did not really seem to do anything. I have 150mb download speed and 20mp upload so I dont think my internet speed is the problem.

Don't give up... You are embarking on a brave new adventure, how to maximize your modem throughput... There is an easy solution call your service provider and request free senior tech service call, explain exactly what you are trying to do... They have the bandwidth/channel tools and want to keep you happy paying their bills... With their help I was able to balance my ISP provided aspire combo modem/router with my 4 powerline ghz extenders, belkin ghz access point, netlink 100mps wifi extender, two 8port ghz routers, and three 100mps 4port routers... I am running 48 devices with no issues... Assuming you have 5g wifi modem, I have found the secret is spend the $ on your network and cheerfully work with the ISP techs till your trash devices all run smoothly.... Good luck earning more money...

I have 50+ phones and 3 laptops with the 1 access point. It seems like the solution was putting the access point on the other side of the house with a wall between the router and access point. As of right now everything seems to be working better.
